Assistant Outlet Manager
The Bow Valley Grill is The Fairmont Banff Spring's largest restaurant. Boasting 260 seats and budgeted in 2014 to do more then 200,000 covers it is one of Fairmont's busiest outlets. Serving Breakfast, Lunch, Weekend Brunch and Dinner the Bow Valley Grill provides guests with a contemporary casual dining concept. "The Grill" features pasta, seafood, grilled meats, prime rib and many other selections for lunch and dinner from our fifty foot open kitchen. Our breakfast buffet offers a spectacular array of fresh fruit and croissants and other baked goods prepared in front of our guest's eyes. We almost forgot to mention the "million dollar view".
The Assistant Restaurant Manager will ensure that the Front of House colleagues provide phenomenal guest experiences resulting in lasting memories. The Bow Valley Grill leadership team will lead teach and coach the new colleagues to heights they thought never able to achieve.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Outlet Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Supervises, coordinates and directs the prompt, efficient and courteous serving of food and beverage in the restaurant with a focus on details
Recruit, train, manage, mentor, lead and develop 5 Leaders, and up to 70 colleagues
Effective performance management through focus on colleague development training, problem resolution, maintaining up-to-date records on performance and audits, attendance, grooming, service deficiencies, schedules, labour costs/payroll, and late/absenteeism
Ensuring regular and effective communication takes place within the Department through individual and departmental communication meetings, pre/post function briefings and the daily interaction with all departments
Generate and promote teamwork and respectful workplace practices between the kitchen and service colleagues
Participating in the setting and ensuring the achievement of Employee Engagement Survey objectives
To further develop and maintain a constructive, harmonious and communicative working relationship with all supporting departments
Ensuring the consistent cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and overall work environment as well as the proper inventory of necessary resources
Exhibits an entrepreneurial attitude towards the restaurant's operation
Constantly seek out creative ways to improve departmental profit by increased capture of covers, average check growth through up selling, and performance management
Monitoring and continued development of food & beverage controls
Continuously developing, promoting and supporting a service culture in keeping with the standards of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts
Participates in service as necessary in accordance with the requirements and practices of the restaurant
Ongoing control and enhancement of quality standards and guest service
Participating in the creation and ensuring the achievement of JD Power initiatives and targets
Full operational responsibilities for outlet in absence of Outlet Manager
Have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the history and heritage of the Banff Springs Hotel
Display professional behavior, integrity, pride and loyalty to the Hotel and it's team
Ensure their work place including staff housing, reflects the culture of a safe, secure and healthy environment
Dedicate and commit to making the Hotel a leader in environmental stewardship
Understand both the restaurant's and the hotel's financial goals to achieve superior long-term financial returns to our shareholders
Actively participate in ongoing learning opportunities and enhancing their skills, abilities and professionalism for personal growth
Complete other taks as assigned by the Outlet Manager
Min. 2 years experience as a Leader in a high volume restaurant/dining room operation, with previous experience leading and coaching other Leaders
Must have sincere desire to exceed guest expectations
A passion for food & wine
The ability to work well under pressure
Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills
Experience with decision making and problem solving
Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
Demonstrated the ability to manage productivity and expenses
Has a flair for revenue generation and marketing skills
Familiar with POS systems, Microsoft office and e-mail features
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and communication abilities
The proven ability to delegate and follow up with projects and tasks
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration an asset
Previous staff training and development experience preferred
