Parkland Regional Library, located in Lacombe, serves 50 public libraries over 25,900 square kilometres of central Alberta. Lacombe is just fifteen minutes from Red Deer, with easy access to Edmonton, Calgary, and the Rocky Mountains. PRL offers many library-related support services to its members, including a large focus on IT support.
Parkland Regional Library is looking for a Network Support Technician who is responsible, motivated, able to solve problems, and has great customer service and troubleshooting skills.
The successful candidate will perform, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
Telephone and remote desktop support.
Computer imaging and installation.
Perform on-site visits for computer and network hardware implementations.
Assist with general maintenance such as user account creation, backups, software updates, etc.
Working with and ordering hardware and software from vendors.
Research new technologies relating to desktops, servers, storage, etc.

The successful candidate must have experience in supporting the following technologies:
Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems such as Windows 7.
Microsoft Windows server operating system and related services such as Active Directory, DNS, etc.
Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, etc.
Understanding of basic networking technologies and protocols.
A technical diploma or certificate(s) from an accredited institution.
A minimum of two years experience in the I.T. field.
The ability to communicate with clients in a clear and friendly manner.
A clean driver’s abstract and automobile are necessary. Periodic travel is required for this position; mileage is reimbursed when personal vehicles are used.
The salary range for this position is $40,057 to $59,180 based on a nine step salary line and includes a generous benefits package.
