POWERLINE TECHNICIAN – SERVICE
VERMILION – SE REGION
As a member of the district team this position is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the distribution system, equipment and company facilities in accordance with company standards policies and procedures, the Alberta Electrical Utility Code, and other regulatory requirements. This position is also key in the delivery of superior customer services and maintaining positive customer relations and will be expected to actively participate in setting and achieving personal and district goals.
A valid Powerline Technician Certification at the Journeyman level or equivalent. Candidates who have certification at the Journeyman level or equivalent from outside of Alberta will be required to successfully obtain the Inter-Provincial/Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate after commencing employment
A valid driver’s license. Candidates with a driver’s license from outside of Alberta will be required to obtain an Alberta driver’s license after commencing employment
Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid certification after commencing employment
Applicants who have successfully completed the Provincial Journeyman exam however have not completed their journeyman hours may also be considered for this posting.

Distribution operations, construction and maintenance knowledge and skills

Sufficient willingness, skills and experience to train apprentices

Experience and willingness to participate in community activities
Sound computer skills including Mobile TC & Viewer, Syclo, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience and knowledge in dealing effectively with communities is an asset
The successful candidate may be required to operate and maintain large commercial vehicles such as radial boom derrick truck (RBD Single / Tandem axle truck trailer combinations, picker / knuckle boom trucks used in the construction and maintenance of power lines and other related facilities.
The successful candidate will be expected to reside in the Vermilion area and provide after-hours service coverage. This position may require the candidate to work away from home base.
