Woodlands Operations Supervisor
Millar Western’s Whitecourt Wood Products Division is seeking a Woodlands Operations Supervisor. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, this individual will be responsible for harvest operations within Millar Western’s operating areas, ensuring they are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner while meeting quality specifications and all government regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will ensure that contractor volumes are met and that all documentation is completed in a manner consistent with the company’s environmental management system. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in forestry and be eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Professional Foresters (CAPF) or College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists (CAPFT He/she will have at least three years of experience in harvesting supervision and road design and construction as well as planning and silviculture experience. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification standards would be considered assets.
